Ratings Key
As they say, hindsight is 20/20. One of the nice
things about going back and replaying older horror games, is that it allows a
person to judge them solely on their content, instead of simply being wowed by
the latest in graphics and marketing gimmicks.
Just like the Movie Ratings, Games here are judged
on a scale of 0 to 10.
The only difference being that games are graded on
multiple criteria;
- Production value: You can't expect a game from
ten years ago to be technologically up to date, but if it looks like pixilated
vomit, and sounds like your little brother's keyboard, you deserve to
know.
- Gameplay: Is it fun to play? Is the interface
user-friendly? If not what's the point? What is the capitol of Texas? What is
the square root of cream cheese? Who's on first?
- Plot and Dialogue
: Does
this game make you care about its characters and goings-on, or are you just
shooting a lot of zombies? (Not that
there's anything wrong with that!)
- Atmosphere: It may be a good game, but is it
scary? Or at least, engrossing?
- Overall: Is the game more than the sum of all
these troublesome parts?
