Comments:

It really is nice to read a book this thoroughly enjoyable every now and again. It amazes me that Campbell can write this well! That’s certainly not a dig, I just never thought of him as a ‘writer’, per se. Oh sure, I know he’s penned a screenplay or two before, but this book is just so polished! Campbell tells his life story with such humor and spirit, that it’s impossible to bored by 'Chins'. The fact that it’s chock full of amusing photos and illustrations certainly adds to the enjoyment factor.

He comes across as a truly warm person, his work while honest and personal, has none of the whining or bitterness that a person often finds in Hollywood auto bios. And certainly no ego-centrism, Campbell displays a fine self-deprecating wit which endears him to the reader even more.

His remembrances on the filming of the Evil Dead series and his relationships with his fellow film-makers are as insightful as they are entertaining. Frankly, If you don’t pick up this book, you have no right calling yourself an Evil Dead fan.
One word of advice, when you do pick up your copy of this book, try to get the soft-cover edition. It has a nice little addendum concerning the ‘Chins across America tour’ and Cambell’s activities since the book’s initial publication. (Including a wee bit concerning his work on Don Coscarelli’s brilliant film Bubba Ho-tep)
